Po (ポー, Pō?) is a character in Beast Complex. He is the deuteragonist of the twentieth chapter.
Appearance
Po is a seemingly young sea otter with a slightly short stature and a chubby physique. Po has a very dense and thick white coat of fur that covers his entire body and gives him a soft and fluffy appearance. He has very small, round, black eyes and a small snout with a black nose which maintains a big smile at all times, as well as two trios of whiskers.
He wears a formal suit consisting of a cadet blue one-button blazer that he keeps open over a white shirt with a black tie, cadet blue dress pants, and light brown lace-up loafers.
Personality
Po has a very peaceful and passive personality, always maintaining an inscrutable expression with a big smile, and does not seem to get excited regularly. He is quite friendly and courteous with his coworkers, and like many other sea creatures, Po follows the will of the sea and the cycle of life and reincarnation, concepts that conflict with the moral codes of land animals. In addition to this, thanks to the cultural gap between the sea and the land, Po may become unaware and ignorant of many of the basic norms and customs of the land society, like his shamelessness in eating fish meat in public, an act for which Po is marginalized at work even when he is a model and efficient employee.
Trivia
- Po's name could be inspired by the American writer Edgar Allan Poe, author of the novel The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket, a tale of seafaring adventures. Or the name could come from a name of a protagonist panda from the Kung Fu Panda franchise.
- Po is the second sea creature to star in a chapter of Beast Complex, in addition to being the second sea creature living on land introduced in the series, the first being Sagwan in both cases.
